Happy Holidays Everyone! It’s the most wonderful time of the year, especially to enjoy a few Christmas spirits. Now, for those of you about to host an event or start any special holiday baking, think twice before shocking up on Kahlua and Bailey’s Irish Cream. Do you know how easy and cheap it is to make these mixers?
Making your own drinks is cheaper because you get to choose the quality of liquer used. Because this product is a mixer, you don’t want to get the good stuff. Use an averagely priced bottle of whiskey and vodka and save the rest for your enjoyment. If you bought Kahlua and Bailey’s Irish Cream at the liquor store it would be approximately $15-25 for each product. If you collect the ingredients and make it yourself you’d pay less than half of that price. Now, if you are like me, you might want to reserve a little bit of your budget to buy a pretty jar to show off your homemade creation. I recommend these under $5.00 bottles. They also have the same thing in an outlet value for less.
This is a great holiday gift and it tastes so much better when you get rid of the preservatives. If you really want to go all out, you can use my homemade sweetened condensed milk and homemade chocolate syrup to make the Bailey’s even more special. Now, the Bailey’s will keep for two months and I expect the Kahlua will last longer since it doesn’t have any milk products in it. Obviously, the ones sold in the store last longer because they have preservatives. It’s Christmas time! It’s a perfect excuse to make Bailey’s cupcakes and truffles or Kahlua cheesecake and add a little special touch of Kahlua to your pecan pie. Your homemade creation will be gone before you know it.
So enjoy a little Christmas delight in a homemade bottle of happiness!
